Have you ever tried a savory waffle? Or even better, have you tried a waffle sandwich? If you think this sounds crazy, I’ve got news for you I just found the best restaurant in Mexico City that specialized on waffles and waffle sandwiches. Yes you read that right, waffle sandwiches!<\/p>\n

Fr\u00ebims is a tiny restaurant in Roma neighborhood in Mexico City, that just celebrated their first anniversary. The concept comes from Marcus Fr\u00ebims, a foodie that ate a Belgian waffle with his hand. He didn’t mind\u00a0 that the waffle was covered in syrup and butter he folded it in half and enjoyed it! This is how they got the inspiration and launched the idea of serving squared sandwiches.<\/div>\n

I had lunch here earlier this week, to be honest I didn’t know what to expect and was a bit hesitant. I went with a close friend and decided to share so we could try two types of sandwiches. We had a caprese salad as a starter, the salad was fine nothing to write home about. For main course we ordered the tuna melt and turkey with brie sandwich with potato chips as a side dish. The minute they arrived at the table we started salivating they looked absolutely delicious! \u00a0The tuna melt sandwich comes with Oaxaca cheese, kale, tomato and herb dressing. The sandwich\u00a0 is creamy with a spicy touch to it.<\/div>\n

The turkey and Brie sandwich is made with arugula, turkey, Brie cheese and fig jam to give it a sweet twist. This is the most popular sandwich in the restaurant. The combination of the crispy salted waffle on top and the fresh ingredients in the center, make these sandwiches extremely unique.<\/p>\n

Some other sandwiches in the menu include the BLT, Portobello, Roast Beef and Caprese. They also serve breakfast where they serve a variety of sweet and salty dished. One of their signature dishes is the chilaquiles. This is served with two sunny side up eggs and a waffle on top with two holes so the eggs peep out.<\/p>\n

After your meal you can’t miss a cup of coffee. The restaurant uses a variety of coffee extraction methods including aeropress and French press. If you are a coffee lover like myself you will love this place! I found the restaurant to be extremely unique and charming. It’s the perfect place to grab a coffee or to enjoy a meal with your family or friends. Kids will love this place and will want to go back to try the different menu items they offer. Hope you enjoy the waffles as much as I did.<\/p>\n
