5 Things to do in November in Mexico City

November has only begun, and we notice how the weather is starting to get colder and the tree leaves change their color. The city is slowly returning to normal after the earthquakes in September and the mood is starting to improve. We perceive how the restaurants are fuller and how the new season brings in seasonal ingredients, such as squash and the traditional turkey.

To enjoy autumn, here are our five suggestions of what to do and where to eat in November in Mexico City.

Jaso Bakery

Jaso has been seducing the capital’s residents for over ten years thanks to the creations of chefs Jared and Sonia. This restaurant in the heart of Polanco recently remodeled one of its areas, which opened with a more casual concept under the name Jaso Bakery. Upon entering the restaurant, it will welcome you with its artisanal bread display and exquisite creations, such as their red velvet cupcakes, carrot muffins and vast variety of macaroon flavors, including cappuccino and cinnamon, banana, pineapple and coconut. You may order these desserts to eat right there or to take home.

If you are looking for something more filling, we recommend walking up to the terrace for a casual lunch or dinner. This area is decorated with a spectacular sculpture made of white pewter dishes and cups, created by artist Marco Rountree. The signature dishes we suggest you order are the sashimi hamachi, the vegan hemp hummus, the kale salad and the grouper ceviche. Regarding entrees, the specialties are octopus with paprika, salmon with saffron and lobster sauce, and the Brussel sprouts. To close with a flourish, you must try the “Jaime Camil”, a chocolate biscuit with brownie and caramel, ideal for chocolate lovers!

Matcha mille crepe

Suuwaymx

Where the Belmondo restaurant used to be on Alfonso Reyes, Suuway opened a casual Japanese-Thai proposal, a partnership of Belmondo’s owners with Chef Mog. The name of the place originated from the phonetics of the word for pretty in Thai.

Here you will find a mix of excellent Thai food with a sushi variety. To start, we recommend the Som Tam salad with papaya, green beans, carrots, cherry tomatoes and dried shrimp, or the Yam Talay with shrimp, calamari and mussels. Continue with their tori pad Thai with chicken or a ramen thai with rice noodles, shrimp, pork and soybean sprouts. If you would rather order sushi, we recommend the seared tuna bowl or the dragon roll. You can’t leave without having tried their matcha mille crepe cake, it’s delicious!
