Where to Stay in Zihuatanejo

Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo is a famous beach destination in the state of Guerrero, located in the Pacific Coast of Mexico. This destination is composed of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa is a government planned tourist resort that started in the 1970’s with funds from the Bank of Mexico. Zihuatanejo on the other hand is the fourth largest city of the state of Guerrero and although it is a big tourist destination with amazing views, it has kept its traditional town feel. Both parts have their own charm in different ways, while Ixtapa has big resorts overlooking the ocean,  Zihuatanejo has small boutique style hotels surrounding the bay.

I had the opportunity to visit some of the iconic boutique hotels in Zihuatanejo, although some of these are not as famous and well-known they are worth the visit or stay.

The hotel is 100 meters above sea level with no beach access, but you can get to the beach either walking (15-20 min) or with a taxi (5 minutes) The restaurant is open to the public but reservations are required as the number of guests is limited.
